Nevada Physician Assistant License Requirements

To obtain a physician assistant license in Nevada you must:

Nevada Medical Board License Renewal

Licenses must be renewed every two years before June 30th of odd-numbered years. The process of medical license renewal includes:

  • 2 hours of continuing education concerning cultural competency, diversity, equity, and inclusion.
  • Completion of 40 hours of continuing medical education (CME) within the renewal period, which must include:
    • 2 hours of ethics, pain management, or addiction care.
    • 2 hours of misuse and abuse of controlled substances, prescribing of opioids, or addiction (only for licensees registered to dispense controlled substances).
    • 2 hours of screening, brief intervention, and referral to treatment (SBIRT).
    • 20 hours within the scope of practice or specialty.
    • 16 hours of other medical education (at least 2 hours every 4 years must be on suicide detection, intervention, and prevention).
  • Payment of the renewal fee of $750 for physicians and $375 for physician assistants.

The CE and CME hours must be AMA Category 1, classified by the AAPA as Category 1 (for PAs), or NSBME Board approved. A list of approved courses is available on the Board’s website. It’s recommended to keep records of your CE and CME activities for at least four years post-renewal period.
