Physician assistants must fill out the online renewal application and pay $100.00 as the renewal fee. Physicians must pay $60.00 for the universal renewal fee and $300.00 for the board renewal fee. Both must also show proof of their continuing medical education credits: a minimum of 25 hours per year, with at least 4 hours on prescribing controlled substances through a course approved by the board. The deadline for renewing the license is December 31 every year.

Registered nurses must pay $284.00 and licensed practical nurses must pay $269.00 as the renewal fee. They must also complete at least two of these continuing competency activities every two years:

• 30 contact hours of continuing education;
• 30 hours of involvement in professional activities;
• 320 hours of work;
• board-approved refresher course. 

The expiration date is November 30.

The physician must have a prior physician-patient relationship with the patient, which means they have seen the patient in person before.
